What is important to us

Our Vision

The vision for Romsey Primary School & Nursery is to be incredible in all we do.  We are committed to inspiring, nurturing and challenging every child to be the best that they can be.  We aim to create an atmosphere that encourages all children to become confident, independent and resilient learners with a passion for discovery. ​​ 

We want every child to feel happy and secure whilst in our care, so that they can strive to reach their potential. We encourage children to be physically and mentally healthy, have a positive self-image, and be proud of who they are and what they achieve.  Everyone in our school community will play a role in ensuring we are all valued, respected and show kindness to one another.  We want every child to grow with the knowledge that the adults of Romsey Primary School & Nursery truly believe in them and their ability to be incredible. ​​ ​ 

The Romsey family feel is important to us.  We actively encourage all our children to play, learn and celebrate together to create a strong sense of belonging. The wider community is encouraged to play their part in educating the children, who will themselves see that their contribution to school and the world outside has a positive impact. In becoming responsible citizens, they will realise that the part they can play in improving society is vital to the future.​​​ 

Each child is recognised as an individual, and their social, emotional and academic needs will be met through an active, purposeful and adaptive curriculum. We celebrate difference and encourage children to show empathy for others, treating others as they want to be treated. We strive for the school to be a happy, caring place from which all the children will take away special memories that will stay with them forever.  

Our Values

Here at RPS we really understand the importance of relationships.  All of our staff know the children in their care upside-down, inside-out and back-to-front!  This means that all of our children know that RPS is a place where they are happy, safe, secure, valued, cared for, listened to, respected, welcomed, and a place to take risks, fail, step outside their comfort zones and enjoy success.  Only once all these are in place can we get the very best from our children.

Supporting children to be incredible in their behaviour is also a big part of what we do. We have 3 school rules: 

Ready

We are ready to learn

  • We arrive at school every day and on time.
  • We have the correct uniform and PE kit.
  • We have our equipment ready.
  • We show that we are listening, and our minds are ready to try our very best.   

Respectful

We are respectful to everyone in our RPS family

  • We listen when others speak, and we respect the property of our friends and the school.
  • We respect that other people have different ideas, beliefs and backgrounds to our own.
  • We respect that people may look different and have different needs, but we all feel the same emotions.
  • We respect the law and the rules of school and society.

Safe

 We keep ourselves and others safe

  • We follow instructions to keep ourselves and others safe.
  • We move around school in a safe manner.
  • We use equipment safely.
  • We stay safe online and make safe choices in our community.
